We still have places left on the workshops planned for this semester if you would like to sign up via the Staff Development Booking site.
We can also arrange team or department workshops at your convenience so please get in touch if there’s an area of learning technology you’re interested in that we haven’t covered.
Learning Analytics and the Retention Centre
This workshop will look at some of the lesser used tools in the VLE that can help tutors keep track of their students’ engagement and progress within their module. We will look at setting up rules for reporting lack of engagement and discuss strategies for re-engaging students and promoting active learning.
3/11/15 – 10.15-11.45 – EEG023
Ask the Audience
A look at the use of voting systems in large classes including a practical demonstration of their set up and use. This session will also show the PowerPoint plug in that allows the creation of interactive slides, and a brief look at some of the wi-fi based options now available for mobile devices.
25/11/15 – 14.15-15.45 – EEG023
Managing online group work in Blackboard
The group tool in Blackboard provides a powerful way of setting up and managing group work within the VLE. This workshop will work through the various options for creating online groups and their individual merits, and look at the different tools and options that can be assigned to groups. Participants will be engaged both as group members to experience the student view, and also as tutors setting up and organising their own groups to gain an all-round appreciation of the group function.
